holds a M.Sc. in Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Engineering and is full professor at the Vienna University of Technology.. His main areas of research are data warehousing, data mining, Semantic Web, object-oriented analysis & design and databases, reusability, non-standard applications, intelligent information retrieval, knowledge management, cultural information systems, web-monitoring and Internet security issues. In 1982, he became Professor for Computer Science at the University of Vienna, where he was appointed Director of the Institute of Software Technology at the TU Vienna, Coordinator of the ASEAN-European University Network (ASEA_UNINET) and of the EURASIA-Pacific University (EPU) Network (till today).
